1. Sweden: Gothenburg awaits
Start your journey from Gothenburg, being the second largest city of Sweden, is a great alternative for Stockholm. Have a taste of delicious cinnamon buns and treat your taste buds further with a visit to the local market hall. Gothenburg offers a great variety of culture; check out the Museum of Art and Gothenburg City Museum - into both of them you get free entrance with your ISIC. Do not forget the picturesque neighbourhood of Haga, with its wooden houses and unique boutiques great for shopping. If you want to explore the nightlife, the city's filled with rooftop bars, craft beer pubs and clubs!
2. Denmark: Fantastic Fredrikshavn
Hop aboard the ferry from Gothenburg to explore Fredrikshavn, where you discover Palm Beach with white sand and palm trees - a Caribbean-vibed summer paradise. Fredrikshavn has many great cycling and hiking routes - Härvejen, for instance, is a 500 km long cycle route that runs from Frederikshavn to Padborg at the German border. The nature enthusiast will not be disappointed by the scenic landscapes. And since you are there, do not forget to participate in an ultimate pub crawl with Fredrikshaven Beerwalk - a toast to your budget-friendly travels!
3. Poland: Gems of Gdynia
Poland is a perfect destination for students because of the affordable prices and the location being good starting point from where to head for further adventures to Europe. In Gdynia, you have a chance to enjoy the local atmosphere (many may know Gdansk, but this gem is less known among travellers!), try out Polish cuisine, enjoy the long, beautiful beach with kilometres of white sand in Sopot or find yourself this summer at the Opener's Festival at the concert of Dua Lipa, Foo Fighters, Sam Smith and a bunch of other world-famous artists! If you are a film enthusiast, Gdynia hosts the Polish Film Festival yearly.
4. The Netherlands: Amsterdam's Canals and Cafés
Make your way to the Netherlands by land via Poland or Germany, in the Netherlands bikes outnumber people and tulips paint the landscape. Cruise through Amsterdam's canals on a bike and capture the city's vibrant street art. Head to Museumplein and pick your favorites to visit - Moco Museum is a must! For a laid-back vibe, hit up the unique cafes and chill at Vondelpark – the perfect place for people-watching. And don't forget to snap a pic in Zaanse Schans, because who wouldn't want windmills in their Instagram feed?
Once you are ready to continue further, Stena Lines ferries leave from modern Rotterdam, which you can reach with only 45 minutes from the capital by train.
5. United Kingdom: Harwich calling
The United Kingdom has something for everyone! Take the ferry to the charming port of Harwich and dive into maritime tales at the Harwich Redoubt – it's like Pirates of the Caribbean (without the actual pirates). Make your way from Harwich to London, the vibrant, trendy Metropol to stroll around Hyde Park, visit Camden Market, and taste fish and chips in a cozy pub. Fancy a bit of magic? Head to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
Once you've explored the highlights of London, continue to Liverpool and hop on a ferry to Ireland.
6. Ireland: Directly to Dublin
From Liverpool you can reach Dublin, known for its legendary pub culture. These cosy pubs are not just places to grab a pint; they're hubs of music, storytelling, and one-of-a-kind experiences in local lifestyle. Whether you're sipping a beer in a historic pub, strolling along the River Liffey, or tracing the footsteps of literary icons, this city offers an unforgettable experience. Do not forget the magnificent views of the Cliffs of Moher, which you can reach 3 hours away from Dublin, or head to Belfast, to see the unique filming locations of Game of Thrones and the city where the story of Titanic began.
